FUZZY LOGIC

WHAT IS FUZZY LOGIC AND WHAT ARE ITS APPLICATIONS

In essence, fuzzy logic (FL) is focused on modes of reasoning which are approximate rather than exact. Fuzzy logic is aimed at precipitation of approximate reasoning. In fuzzy logic, everything, including truth, is or is allowed to be a matter of degree, in bivalent logic, everything is either true or false. There is a fundamental conflict between bivalence and reality

WHAT IS FUZZY LOGIC? WHY IS IT NEEDED?

In the evolution of science a time comes when alongside the brilliant successes of a theory, T, what become visible are classes of problems, which fall beyond the reach of T. At that point, the stage is set for a progression from T to T*–a generalization of T.

Among the many historical examples are the transitions from Newtonian mechanics to quantum mechanics; from linear system theory to nonlinear system theory; and from deterministic models to probabilistic models in economics and decision analysis

In this perspective, a fundamental point– a point which is not as yet widely recognized– is that there are many classes of problems, which cannot be addressed by any theory, T, which is based on bivalent logic. The problem with bivalent logic is that it is in fundamental conflict with reality– a reality in which almost everything is a matter of degree

To address such problems what is needed is a logic for modes of reasoning which are approximate rather than exact. This is what fuzzy logic is aimed at. In a sense, if bivalent logic is the logic of measurements, then fuzzy logic is the logic of perceptions.

Till next time… i’m logging off… God Bless Us All 🙂

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the level of On-The-Job Training Performance of Associate in Computer Science Students of Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Batad Campus during their on-the-job training program for Summer 2005.

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the On-The-Job Training Performance of Associate in Computer Science Students of Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Batad Campus for Summer 2005.  The subject of this study was composed of 26 Associate in Computer Science students at Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Batad Campus, who have undergone their on-the-job training at the different training centers in the public and private industries.

The data were tabulated and analyzed using the following statistical tools: Arithmetic Mean and Chi – square to determine whether there was no significant difference in the performance of students in terms of attendance and punctuality, comprehension, work habits and attitude when they are grouped according to the selected variables. The level of significance set 0.05  was used to determine whether the null hypothesis is accepted or rejected.

The finding of this study was found that there is no significant difference  on-the-job training performance set at 0.05 level of significant of Associate in Computer Science Students of Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Batad Campus during summer 2005 in terms of their attendance and punctuality, comprehension, work habits and attitude when they are grouped according to gender, age and training center.

Students who are 18 years old and below, 19-20 years old, 21 years old and above, got very satisfactory ratings in terms of their attendance and punctuality, work habits and attitude, and satisfactory in terms of comprehension.

As to gender male and female got the same performance in terms of their attendance and punctuality, comprehension, work habits and attitude.

Students who were assigned in public industries got very satisfactory in terms of attendance and punctuality, work habits and attitude, and satisfactory in terms of comprehension, while students who were assigned in private industries got a very satisfactory in terms of their attendance and punctuality, and comprehension, and satisfactory for work habits and attitude.

On the basis of the findings of this study, it can be concluded that students who have undergone on-the-job training program for Summer 2005, most of them got Very Satisfactory ratings in terms of their attendance and punctuality, work habits and attitude, and satisfactory in terms of comprehension.

Untill next time.. 🙂

God bless us all….
